My walk today was dedicated in honor of Army PFC Alan D. Whitlock who died Jan. 10, 1967 in South Vietnam, Kontum province from hostile small arms fire. Alan was assigned to 101st Airborne Division, 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry, B Company. Light Weapons Infantry.
Alan is honored on the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial in Washington DC. Name inscribed at VVM Wall, Panel 14e, Line 8. His awards and commendations include: Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Compaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Distingueshed Unit Citation, Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal.
He shall not be forgotten.
Today’s walk was amazing. I want to thank everyone that honked, waved to help me honor this hero. I walked two different walks. One in the morning and one in the evening for a total of 10.55 miles.

Thank you, Glad that I could Honor him. I know if I could have met him that I would have liked him and we would have had a lot to talk about. We will keep his memory alive.
