Today my walk was dedicated in honor of:
Army CPL Patrick Leroy Mansfield, Age 18 of Tucson, AZ.
KIA May 12 1968 Vietnam
He is honored at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall on Panel 59E, Line 2.
He is buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Tucson, AZ.
He Served with Company D, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade.
He had enlisted in the United States Army. Entered the service via Regular Military. Served during the Vietnam War. He began his tour on March 30, 1968. Mansfield had the rank of Corporal. His military occupation or specialty was Light Weapons Infantry.
Patrick Mansfield was raised in Tucson and attended Pueblo High School. He joined the US Army in March 1967. He had married Sylvia Rodriguez two days before departing for Vietnam. He was killed in action in the Binh Dinh Province of Vietnam.
CPL Mansfield was awarded the Purple Heart, National Defense, Vietnam Service, and Vietnam Campaign medals.
We had a great 7.14 mile walk today. We stopped and visited some fallen brothers and sisters in the Crossville City Cemetery and then we stopped at the War Memorial Park down town . The weather was perfect for the walk and we had 204 honks. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping me honor this hero.
