Today our walk was dedicated in honor of:

Army Veteran Willie Ray Hall, Age 61 of Opp, AL.
Died Apr. 20, 2007

He graduated from Opp High School in 1963. Willie Ray was drafted into the Army in April of 1966. He served in Vietnam with the 9th Infantry Division, earned a Purple Heart, and was honorably discharged in April of 1968.He returned home to Opp where he worked at the Opp Cotton Mill until his retirement in 2003.Around that time, Willie was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, caused by exposure to Agent Orange during his service in Vietnam. He lived with the disease for several years, until he passed away on April 20th, 2007. Willie Ray was a beloved father, brother and friend. He was loved by everyone who knew him and he is greatly missed by friends and family.

We had a great 6.70 Mile walk today. We walked to the Crossville City Cemetery and then we walked to the War Memorial Park down town before heading home. I want to thank my friend Robert for walking with us today and I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping us honor this hero today. We had 99 honks today. It was amazing. Thank you.

Army Veteran Willie Ray Hall will not be forgotten !
