Today my walk was dedicated in honor of:
Army SGT Kenneth Monroe Barker, Age 19 of Charleston WV.
KIA Mar. 24, 1968
He is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall on Panel 46E, Line 2.
Ken is buried at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens, West Palm Beach, FL.
He was assigned with 101st Airborne Division, 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry, D Company
Died through hostile action, small arms fire In South Vietnam, Thua Thien province.
SGT Barker was awarded the Purple Heart, National Defense, Vietnam Service, and Vietnam Campaign Medals.
We had a great 7.66 mile walk. The weather was perfect. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping me honor this hero.
