Our walk today was dedicated in honor of:
Army Veteran SGT Derek Redmon, Age 33 of Columbus, IN.
Died Jan. 21, 2022
SGT Redmon did two tours in Afghanistan and one tour in Iraq. He was a squad leader for a while. He always protected his squad. He adore his 2 children and was a loving father, friend, and son. He would do anything for you. He loved to fish, hunt. He loved to take his kids on vacations.
His daughter will miss having her father and daughter dance. We will miss his smile and joking around he was always a jokester. He was a fireman in North Carolina till he moved back to Columbus, IN. then he started working as a crane operator.
We had a great 6.64 Mile walk today. We wasn’t going to let the rain stop us as they don’t stop working for us no matter the weather. We walked by the Army National Guard on Sparta Hwy and then headed up town on West Avenue. We stopped at the War Memorial Park down town and then headed up 127 and walked over to the 9/11 Memorial. We had a lot of young men sign up for the military because of 9/11 and we lost a lot of them. I felt the need to walk their today and honor all who we lost that day. We then headed back home.
I want to thank everyone who honked, waved and saluted in helping me honor this hero. We had 185 honks. Thank You
Army Veteran SGT Derek Redmon will not be forgotten !
Rest easy brother! Your memory will live on! Thank you for always keeping me safe! And most importantly for all the laughs!
This was the most beautiful thing you could have done for my grandson. He was my first grandson and I loved him dearly.
Thank you for your service and many sacrifices.
