Our walk today was dedicated in honor of:
Army SPC Christopher David Allen Kube, Age 18 of Shelby Twp, MI.
KIA Jul 14 2007 Operation Iraqi Freedom
PFC Kube was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.
He volunteered to be a gunner and a driver in convoys that ferry commanders and, in some cases, visiting VIPs. He chose danger.
Spc. Christopher D. Kube of Sterling Heights, Michigan attended the Utica Center for Applied Learning later graduating from the Michigan Youth Challenge Academy in Battle Creek. He was a gunner in the United States Army who enjoyed the military and always met the challenge. When he was last home on leave in February 2007 he married his girlfriend, Tianna, whom he met in Colorado. The oldest of five children loved riding dirt bikes and deer-hunting with his father. He died in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered from an improvised explosive device at age 18.
We had a great 6.42 mile walk this morning. We walked by the Crossville National Guard Armory as we headed to the 9/11 Memorial. After stopping at the 9/11 Memorial we headed up town to the War Memorial Park. After walking threw town we walked over to the police station and then headed back on West Ave. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping me honor this hero today. We had 133 honks. It was amazing. Thank You !
Army SPC Christopher David Allen Kube will not be forgotten !
