Today our walk was dedicated in honor of :
Army SPC Jarrett Kotalik, Age 21 of The Woodlands, TX.
Died Jul. 10, 2023
Jarrett was a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne
Jarrett was the 2nd oldest of 5 children, an Eagle Scout like his 4 other siblings and dad. He graduated early from High School to pursue his dream of earning his Airborne Wings.
He was very dedicated and loved his Country. He was following tradition in his family and he was inspired by his great grandfather who was a paratrooper during WWII.
Jarrett was an avid outdoorsman. He dropped his line in ponds around his hometown of The Woodlands, Texas. His favorite fly fishing spot was in Cassville, Missouri. He fished in lakes and rivers in Louisiana and North Carolina. He also loved duck hunting and named his faithful dog companion, “Duck.” Jarrett was a devoted fan of L.S.U. football and the Chicago Cubs.
Specialist Kotalik earned his Eagle Scout rank in April 2018, along with two of his brothers. He actively served his hometown within a variety of Service projects that benefitted some of the most vulnerable in the community. As a soldier, he earned several awards, including the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
Jarrett’s older brother is a Fire Control Specialist in the U.S. Navy.
We had an amazing 8.08 Mile walk today. We walked west and walked by the Play House and went to the old River Run Golf Course that is no longer in use. We didn’t let the rain stop us. We got to see 4 deer and 3 turtles and several geese. Holiday Hills Lake was beautiful even though it was raining off and on. It was a nice quiet walk. This place is a hidden gem for walking. We took several photo’s but due to the rain we didn’t take as many as we would have liked. I want to thank my friend Robert for walking with us and I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted as we walked along Sparta Hwy. We had 57 honks. It was amazing. Thank you.
Army SPC Jarrett Kotalik will not be forgotten !
