Today our walk was dedicated in honor of:
Army CPL Matthew J. Stanley, Age 22 of Wolfeboro Falls, NH.
KIA Dec. 16, 2006
CPL Stanley was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas
Cpl. Matthew J. Stanley of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire grew up in the Ossipee Wolfeboro area. In 2002, he graduated from Kingswood Regional High School, where he was well-known and well-liked by his peers and teachers. He was outgoing and deeply proud and personal about his two tours of duty in Iraq. He was a typical boy who loved to take things apart and put things back together. He always had a good circle of friends. He was the type of kid that everybody wanted for a friend. Matt had been married less than a year.
He is buried in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery
We had a great 5.92 Mile walk. We started out walking by Holiday Hills Lake and then we headed up towards town and stopped in at the War Memorial Park before heading home. What a beautiful day for a walk. It felt really good to be back out walking again. I want to thank my friend Robert for walking with us and I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted. We had 109 honks today it was great. Thank you.
Army CPL Matthew J. Stanley will not be forgotten !
