My walk today was dedicated in honor of:
Marine LCPL Robert Carl Anderson, Age 19 of Middletown, DE.
KIA Feb. 3, 1968 Vietnam
He had enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Entered the service via Regular Military. Served during the Vietnam War. He began his tour on October 22, 1967. Anderson had the rank of Lance Corporal. His military occupation or specialty was Rifleman.
Lance Corporal Robert Carl Anderson, Served with Company M, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, Third Marine Amphibious Force.
LCPL Anderson is honored at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall on Panel 37E, Line 3
Robert is buried at Cathedral Cemetery in Wilmington, Delaware.
He was “Killed In Action” in the Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam during the Vietnam War.
LCPL Anderson was awarded the Purple Heart, National Defense, Vietnam Service, and Vietnam Campaign Medals.
We had a great 7.59 Mile walk today. I want to thank my friends Robert and Bob for walking with us today. The weather was beautiful. I want to thank all those who honked, waved, and saluted in helping us honor this hero.
