My walk today was dedicated in honor of:

Army PFC Dallas Lawson II, Age 21 of Nashville, TN.
KIA Feb. 10 1965 Vietnam

He is honored at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall on Panel 1E, Line 89
Dallas is buried at Prospect Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Bethel Hill, Person County,NC.

He served with the 140th Transportation Detachment, 117th Assault Helicopter Company, 145th Aviation Battalion, United States Support Command Vietnam, MACV.

PFC Dallas Owen Lawson II, Vietnam Veteran, Born in Person County, NC, he moved to Columbus, Ohio and then later enlisted in Nashville, Tenn.

PFC Dallas Owen Lawson II was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army Selective Service and a Draftee, PFC Lawson served our country until February 2nd, 1965 in Binh Duong, South Vietnam. He was 21 years old and was married. It was reported that Dallas died when a bomb exploded near his bunk when Viet Cong sappers blew up the Hotel Viet Cuong, an American enlisted men’s temporary billets in Qui Nhon City, killing him and twenty two others and wounding twenty one U.S. soldiers. His body was recovered. PFC Lawson is listed on Panel 01E – Line 89 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for less than one year.

He was awarded The Combat Infantryman’s Badge(CIB), The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal.

We had a great 10.11 Mile walk today. We stopped by the war memorial park and walked out 127 past Walmart. The temp was warm and we had a great walk. I want to thank those who honked, waved, and saluted in helping me honor this hero.
