Today our walk was dedicated in honor of:
Navy Veteran Edgar Carl Voelker, Age 62 of Altamont, IL.
Died Nov. 12, 1993
Edgar entered service in the Navy on March 1, 1951. He served during the Korean War. Edgar received an Honorable Discharge on February 25, 1955. He did make it home safely.
Edgar married Evadine Bernice Yagow on May 11, 1969 in Altamont, Illinois. They lived in South San Francisco in San Mateo County, California and Edgar worked as an electrician. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Edgar Carl Voelker died on November 12, 1993 and is buried at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in rural Altamont, Illinois. He was proud to have served his country.
We had a great 5.94 Mile walk. We walked to 127 and then headed up town to the War Memorial Park. We stopped by Boats and Harbors on 4th street to see the big boat anchor before heading home. The weather was perfect. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping me honor this hero. We had 134 honks. It was amazing. Thank you.
