My walk today was dedicated in honor of:
Army SP4 Larry Schoonmaker, Age 25 of Detroit, MI.
KIA Sep. 1,1970 Vietnam
He began his tour on March 12, 1970. He had the rank of Specialist Four. Occupation or specialty was Infantry Direct Fire Crewman. Served with 1st Cavalry Division, 1st Squadron, 9th Cavalry, Troop B.
Larry is buried at Westlawn Memorial Park, Wayne,MI.
He is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall on Panel 7W, Line 32
He was awarded the Air Medal, National Defense, Vietnam Service, and Vietnam Campaign Medals.
We had a great walk this morning. We walked up town to the war memorial park and then on the way home we stopped in to visit a few of our Fallen Heroes at the Frost Cemetery.
I want to thank everyone who honked and waved in helping me honor this hero. It was amazing.
He will not be forgotten !
