Today our walk was dedicated in honor of:

Army Veteran Codey W. Donahue, Age 29 of Bedford, VA.
Died Nov. 1, 2022

After highschool, Cody enlisted in the Army, He was deployed to South Korea and did a short stent in Afghanistan. He was SGT in the 82 Airborne in Fort Bragg, NC.

After serving in the Army he returned to Bedford where he started his own business in construction. He had a passion for hot rods with his stepdad. Codey enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and kayaking. He loved working with cattle, horses and recently was learning roping. Codey was very intelligent, sarcastic, and honest person who didn’t mind telling yhou what was on his mind. He will be missed by all who knew him.

It was an honor to walk 16.0 Miles with Army Veteran Codey W. Donahue. We started our walk about 5am and walked by Holiday Hills Lake. We then took Miller Ave. and took Lantana Road. We decided to head out to the Cumberland Mountain State Park. It has been 828 days since we last walked out to the State Park. On the way we watched the sun come up. We got to see a deer run across the road. It was nice an quiet that time of the morning. We reached the state park around 7:47am and we watched some geese along the lake. Their was all sorts of wildlife around the park. We then headed to 127 and headed back towards town. We made a quick stop at the VFW to take a photo and then the American Legion. We walked into town and stopped by the Veterans Memorial Park and read some names on the Memorial Wall of our Fallen Brothers. We then continued north and turned back west once we reached Flowers Bakery. We then headed back towards the house. We had an amazing walk. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping us honor this hero. We had 504 honks today. It was amazing. With these honks today we reached 90,045 honks.

Army Veteran Codey W. Donahue will not be forgotten !
