He was an avid participant in the US Navy Sea Cadet Corps from the age of 9 until 17, reaching the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class. While enrolled in the US Navy Sea Cadets he was also a member of the Cyber Patriots and Color Guard and participated in honoring Veterans service at events such as the Travelling Vietnam Memorial Wall. Following boot camp, Brandon was sent to Naval Air Station Corry, located in Pensacola Florida, where he undertook training as a Cryptography Technician, successfully completing A-School in November 2018. Brandon loved the military and the challenges it presented, and had a bright future ahead of him in the USN.

Brandon touched the lives of everyone he knew, is dearly loved by all, and will be greatly missed.

We had an amazing 2.13 mile walk today. We drove to Ozone and did our walk their. We walked back to the water fall and then hiked down to see the view from below the falls. It was just amazing. We got to visit with a couple of other people and we got to share Brandon’s story with a couple other people. It was a great hike. We then drove back to Crossville and we continued our walk to the War Memorial Park down town and then before heading back we stopped by the big boat anchor by Boat’s and Harbors. I want to thank my friend Robert for walking with us today and I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping us honor this hero today. It was amazing. We had 16 honks today. Thank You.

Navy PO3 Brandon Michael Thurber will not be forgotten !
