My walk today was dedicated in honor of:

Navy GMG3 Ronald Alan Crose, Age 21 of Keithsburg, IL.
KIA Nov. 24, 1967 Vietnam

Petty Officer Third Class Ronald Alan Crose, Served aboard YRBM-16 (Yard Repair Berthing and Messing Barge 16), River Division 52 (RIVDIV-52), River Squadron 5 (RIVRON-5), Task Force 116 (TF-116), United States Naval Forces Vietnam

A bomb exploded against the hull of the YRBM 16 on Thanksgiving Night!, 1:15 AM November 24, 1967 in the middle of a river at Ben Tre, Vietnam It is assumed that a VC swimmer evaded the nets.. I remember Crose as a clean cut young man that any mother would be proud of. He was a credit to the Navy and his country and family.

He is honored on panel 30E, Line 75 of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall.

He entered the service on Nov. 21, 1964, completing his basic training at Great Lakes Naval Base. He served in the Phillippines and at Subic Bay on board the USS Hedctor for seven months, prior to serving in Vietnam.

He was awarded the Purple heart, National Defense Service, Vietnam Service, Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation, Vietnam Civil Actions Unit citation, Vietnam Campaign, Medals

We had a great 6.02 mile walk today. We stopped by Boats & Harbors to see the boat anchor this morning. I want to thank my friend Robert for walking with us today. I want to thank everyone that honked, waved, and saluted in helping me honor this hero. It was amazing.

Navy GMG3 Ronald Alan Crose will not be forgotten !
