Our walk today was dedicated in honor of:
Army PVT Matthew Asher, Age 20 of Hazard, KY.
Died Dec 26 2018
Matthew was a dispatcher for Perry County 911. He was also enlisted in the United States Army.
Matthew was only 20 years old when he was found murdered after a Christmas party on December 26,2018.
From his father
He was so proud of he done all the funerals he started work at 17 years old at the sheriffs office and he loved that job when he graduated from Fort Jackson he was sent from there to Fort Lee Virginia to finish up training and from there he come home five months later he was dead.
It was an honor to walk 7.55 Miles with Army PVT Matthew Asher today. We started out by walking by Holiday Hills Lake and then worked our way to town where we made a stop at the Veterans Memorial Park and read a few names of our Fallen Brothers on the Memorial Wall. We then headed north and made a stop at the 9/11 Memorial. We then headed back south and walked by Kroger’s and then home. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping me honor this hero. We had 253 honks today. It was amazing. Thank you.
