My walk was dedicated in honor of:
Army Veteran Merrell Travis Carnes, Age 70, of Crossville, TN.
Died Feb. 19, 2019
Merrell was a co-pilot on board a Mowhawk OV-1 in the Vietnam War 68-70
He ran the infrared onboard for when they were looking for their target.
He is buried in the Crossville, City Cemetery
We had an amazing 6 mile walk this morning. I got to meet with Merrell’s wife ,son and friend and they met me up at the war memorials down town and then walked to his grave. I want to thank everyone who honked and waved in helping me honor this hero.
He will NOT be forgotten !
Merrell was my brother. Thank you so much for this honor. The Vietnam veterans were never recognized or respected as they should have been. Their sacrifices were real and they carried scars throughout their lives. He would have been pleased.
Thank you Debbie for your kind words. It was an honor to walk with him.
