Our walk today was dedicated in honor of:

Army Capt. Matthew Alexander Heisey, Age 34 of Woodbridge, VA.

Brother of Elizabeth and Christopher
Graduated from USMA 2005; member of The Black Knights parachute Team.
Served 2-15 month tours in Afghanistan;
1 as a Blackhawk pilot
2 with special forces;
Ran 100 mile ultramarathons;
Father of 2 girls;
Died by suicide;
Buried at Quantico National Cemetery

We had a great 10.04 Mile walk this morning. We headed out on Northside Drive . Watching the birds and other wildlife along the ponds. We then headed towards town on 127 and made a stop at the War Memorial Park. Before going home we made a stop in the Frost Cemetery to visit one of our Fallen Brothers. I want to thank my friend Robert for walking with us today. I want to thank all who honked, waved, and saluted in helping us honor this hero today. We had 239 honks today. It was so amazing. Thank you all so very much for helping me honor Army Capt. Matthew Alexander Heisey today.

Army Capt. Matthew Alexander Heisey will not be forgotten !

  1. You, Tim French, will always have a piece of my heart for doing this out of the goodness of your heart. We miss him so much. Our biggest fear is that he will be forgotten and people will stop saying his name. Thank you for putting him “out there’” reminding people that he did live…. And for saying his name.
    With love,
    Michael (Matt’s mom)

  2. Tim, another Tim here. Matt is always in his Maryland family’s hearts. When I say my Matt’s name, there’s always another Matt under my breath for that other hero in oar family.
