Our walk was dedicated in honor of:

Army SPC Krystal M. Fitts, Age 26 of Houston, TX.
KIA Jul. 17, 2012 during Operation Enduring Freedom

SPC Fitts was assigned to 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.

She joined the Army in 2009 as a chemical operations specialist. She trained at Fort Jackson, Fort Leonard Wood, and Fort Benning, before coming to Fort Bragg in May of 2010.
Military officials stated that Krystal filled a critical role in her unit and took on duties well beyond the scope of her training. She is also described as motivated, tenacious and dedicated.
Krystal had learned the Pashtu language to help soldiers communicate with local Afghans.
Her awards include the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the NATO Medal, the Combat Action Badge and the Parachutist Badge.

We had a great 8.53 Mile walk this morning. We walked in the Obed River Park and then we made a stop at the 9\11 Memorial before heading up town to the War Memorial Park. Once we got up to the War Memorial Park we read several names off of the Memorial Wall and then we headed back to the house. It was a great walk and I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping us honor this hero today. We had 179 honks today. It was amazing. Thank you.

Army SPC Krystal M. Fitts will not be forgotten !
