Our walk today was dedicated in honor of:
Army CWO3 Donald V. Clark, Age 37 of Memphis, TN.
KIA Nov. 15, 2008 Operation Iraqi Freedom
He was assigned to the 6th Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, Task Force 49, U.S. Army Alaska, Fort Wainwright, Alaska
He died when his OH-58 Kiowa helicopter crashed while on a mission over Mosul.
Clark joined the Army in February 1992 and was assigned to Fort Wainwright in November 2006.
Chief Warrant Officer 3 Donald V. Clark, 37, of Newton, Alabama. He graduated from Boardman Ohio High School in 1989 and served in the Navy until 1995 when he joined the Army. Don was assigned to Fort Wainwright, Alaska, in November 2006 as an instructor pilot for small scout helicopters. He deployed to Iraq in July 2008 as part of the 6th Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, Task Force 49, U.S. Army Alaska. He and another soldier died in Mosul, Iraq, when their OH-58 Kiowa helicopter crashed while on a mission over Mosul. Don was fearless and his fellow soldiers called him “Genghis Don.” He was very smart.
He could have done anything. But he chose to stand together shoulder to shoulder with brave men and women to fight tyranny.
He is buried in the Sunset Memorial park, Midland City, Alabama
We had a great 5.33 Mile walk. We walked up town to the War Memorial Park and back. I want to thank my friend Robert for walking with us and I want to thank all who honked, waved, and saluted in helping us honor this hero. We had 159 honks. Thank You.
Army CWO3 Donald V. Clark will not be forgotten !
