Today my walk was dedicated in honor of:
Air Force Capt. Wade Anthony Greer, Age 25 of Nacogdoches, TX
KIA Nov 5 1969 Vietnam
He is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall on Panel 16W, Line 34
Capt. Greer is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
1st Lt Fred Carter and Capt Wade Greer were flying F-4C tail number 63-7604. As they returned from an interdiction mission, they were given a ground-controlled approach into Cam Ranh Bay airfield. During the approach the F-4 simply disappeared from the controller’s radar screens – no reason from the crash was ever found. The wreckage eventually was located and the remains of the two men recovered. They are buried together in Arlington National Cemetery.
Capt. Greer was awarded: Air Medal, National Defense, Vietnam Service, and Vietnam Campaign Medals
We had a great 10.15 Mile walk today. The weather was perfect. We started out and walked to the War Memorial Park down town and read a few names off the wall and continued down 127. We walked in the Gardens and met his 1st cousin. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping me honor this hero. It was amazing.
Air Force Capt. Wade Anthony Greer will not be forgotten !
Thank you for honoring my brother.
