Today our walk was dedicated in honor of:

Army Veteran Jason LaPointe Age 26 of West Columbia, TX
Died Feb. 14, 2014

Jason served in the United States Army and earned the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star and an Army Service Ribbon.

Jason was an amazing young man, full of life, love and he was a prankster. He knew his job and did it extremely well, he received awards and was recognized for his service. PTSD took the light from his eyes and the fire in his soul. His second deployment changed him, we lost a beautiful heart when he came home.
Jason struggled with PTSD for several years before it became overwhelming. If love could have saved him he would still be here. Everyone loved and wanted to be around Jason always. He was the person who lit up a room by just being in it.
PTSD finally won and Jason could not battle it anymore so on 2/14/14 he quieted the demons and left a huge whole in our hearts and in our family. Forever loved and Never Forgotten.

Day 1 of 22

We had a great 6.73 Mile walk today. We did get a few sprinkles and the wind was quite gusty but we had a wonderful walk. We walked by the National Guard Armory and then stopped by the 9/11 Memorial . We then headed over to the post office and then walked on up Main Street to the War Memorial Park.

I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping me honor this hero. It was amazing. We had 204 honks. Thank you.

Army Veteran Jason LaPointe will not be forgotten !
