Our walk today was dedicated in honor of :
Army Veteran Paul Norman Cunningham, Age 66 of Sparta, TN.
Died Oct. 4, 2000
1st Sergeant in the US Army. During his time in the military he fought in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He met my Omi in German during his time in the Army and they moved back here to the states after starting their family. He was born July 3, 1934. He was born local, in White County TN and raised 4 children in which served in the army or married someone that served. His son, Norman Cunningham went on to be a Major for the US army. My Omi held the family together after his passing and has devoted her whole life to loving us all. She is one of the strongest women I know and her stories are my favorite.
We had a great 11.22 Mile walk this morning. We headed west on Sparta Hwy and we walked to his grave in the Smith Chapel Cemetery. It was a great honor to meet his daughter and his wife. We had a great walk. We got to see the sunrise. I want to thank my friend Robert for walking with us today. I also want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping us honor this hero. We had 206 honks. It was amazing.
Army Veteran Paul Norman Cunningham will not be forgotten !
