Today our walk was dedicated in honor of:
Navy Veteran Comer D. Allen, Age 102 of Cookeville, TN.
Died Mar. 22, 2023
Mr Allen was a World War II Navy Veteran.
He was a mason, member of the Burristown Church of God.
He is buried in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery.
We had a great 7.01 Mile walk today. We started out on Interstate drive and made a right on South Willow. We walked by the VA Medical Clinic and then continued to Stevens Street where we made a stop at the Cookeville City Cemetery and visited several of our fallen brothers. We then continued our walk on Spring street and then headed towards town. After visiting the memorials down town we headed South on Jefferson street where we got back on Interstate drive and ended our walk. I want to thank Boswell’s Country Roads Harley-Davidson for allowing us to park and use them as a starting point. I want to thank my friend Robert for walking with us today. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping us honor this hero. We had 100 honks. It was amazing. I want to thank the City of Cookeville for giving us a warm welcome. I also want to thank the Cookeville Newspaper Herald-Citizen for coming out and getting our story. We had a beautiful day to honor a great hero.
Navy Veteran Comer D. Allen will not be forgotten !
I read the article in the Herald-Citizen about your walk honoring Mr. Allen. How nice of you to take your time to remember a fellow veteran. I’m sure the family appreciates it.
My father was a WWll veteran also so these men have a special place in my heart.
Keep up the good work. These men and you deserve to be remembered.
Thank you
Thank you Debbie
