My walk this morning was dedicated in honor of:
Army Sgt. James D. Stewart , Age 29 of Chattanooga, TN.
KIA June 21, 2005 in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom
He was assigned to the 57th Transportation Company, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.
Stewart was not scheduled to go on this mission but a friend of his was exhausted and could hardly move so Stewart volunteered to take his place. That night on that mission he was killed by a IED that explosed near his military cargo truck. This was his second deployment to Iraq. Stewart entered the Army in October of 2002 and joined the division in Oct. 2003.
He previously received a Purple Heart
As a civilian, Stewart had been a truck driver.
it was a great walk. I want to thank everyone who honked and waved in helping me honor this hero this morning. Thank You
