My walk this morning was dedicated in honor of :

Marine Cpl. Kristopher D. Greer, Age 25 of Ashland City, TN.
Died Aug. 8, 2010 of wounds received Aug. 6 while supporting combat operations.
He was assigned to 4th Combat Engineering Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve, Knoxville, TN.

Daniel Greer dedicated his life to service – as a fire fighter, EMT and Marine reservist.
Daniel, age 25, was a 2003 graduate of Harpeth High School. His dreams of service were realized as he served his country and his community. He was a devoted husband, father and son. He was of the Baptist faith.

Daniel’s mission and a life of service ended August 8, 2010 in a military hospital in Germany after he stepped on an improvised explosive devise two days earlier while on foot patrol in Helmand province, Afghanistan. Dan’s parents and wife have gone to Germany to bring their Hero home

Aunt (Lisa Taylor) said he was a volunteer firefighter even before he was able to drive. He was called to a life of service. Known by his middle name, Daniel was now a career firefighter and EMT was also a Marine Reservist. He has joined the Marine Corps in April 2006 and was a member of Company D, 4th Combat Engineering Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve, which is based in Knoxville. His unit arrived in country in January. He was on his first combat deployment and had been promoted to Cpl. In April of this year.

Walker said Greer’s pride and joy was his family, which included his wife, Stacy, and young son, Ethan. “He always put his family first even above the fire department and military,” he said. Walker said the city’s police and fire departments plan to escort Greer’s body back to Cheatham County from the Nashville airport.

Had an amazing 9.84 miles walk this morning. The weather was perfect. I want to thank everyone for the honks and waves in helping me honor this fallen hero. you all are amazing. Thank you
