My walk today was dedicated in honor of:

Army CWO John R. Grisard, Age 23 of Long Branch, NJ.
KIA Nov. 19, 1970 Vietnam

CWO Grisard is honored at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall on Panel 6W, Line 70
John is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.

He was assigned to 1st Aviation Brigade, 7th Squadron, 17th Cavalry, C Troop
John began his tour on July 8, 1970.

CWO Grisard was awarded: Purple Heart, Air Medal, National Defense, Vietnam Service, and Vietnam Campaign Medals.

Grisard was killed in action while on his second tour of duty in Vietnam. He was an accomplished Cobra pilot but on his second tour he volunteered to be a scout pilot. He flew the Hughes OH-6A.
On November 19, 1970, he was killed in action while being trained in special scouting techniques. His helicopter received heavy enemy fire, was hit and exploded in mid-air in Binh Dinh, South Vietnam.

We had a great 9.49 Mile walk today. Walked a couple new roads. The weather was nice. I want to thank my friend Robert for walking with us today. I want to thank everyone that honked, waved and saluted in helping me honor this hero today.

Army CWO John R. Grisard will not be forgotten !
