Today our walk was dedicated in honor of:

Marine Veteran Frank Leland Benjamin, Age 81 of Saratoga Springs, NY.
Died Dec. 14, 2017

Frank was a Computer Tech with TRW Bridgeport for many years. In his early years he was mechanic. There was nothing about repairing cars that Frank did not know. He was a loving, kind and caring person always willing to help others. He enjoyed NASCAR and drag racing, his favorite drivers was Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Dale Earnhardt Jr.. He also enjoyed serving his country in the US Marine Corp from 1953 to 1957. His lifetime of dedication and self-sacrifice serve as a monument to the exemplary man he was. His humility, integrity, and hard work continue to inspire those who knew him.

It was a great honor to walk 12.01 Miles with Marine Veteran Frank Leland Benjamin. We started out by heading east on Sparta Hwy. Watching a beautiful sunrise as we walked. The wind was calm but the temp. was a little cool. We made our way over to main street and headed towards town. Our first stop was the Veterans Memorial Park down town where we read some of the names of our Fallen Brothers on the Memorial Wall. We then continued our walk and headed east on first east street. We made a stop in the Crossville City Cemetery and honor some of our brothers and sisters. We continued east and made another stop in at the Hyder Cemetery and visited some of our Fallen Brothers their. We continued east and we reached Peavine Road (One of the busiest roads in our county”. We headed north and walked to Fairfield Glade. It started raining, it was a cold cold rain but wasn’t a downpoor. We enjoyed the mountain views and water views. We reached the beautiful Robin Hood Park where they are building a Veterans and First Responders Memorial. They are still in the building stages. This is the first time I am seeing this Memorial. It is going to be beautiful. We had some rain, we had some sunshine. It was an amazing walk. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping me honor this hero. We had 665 honks today. A great first walk with our new flag.

Marine Veteran Frank Leland Benjamin will not be forgotten !
