Our walk today was dedicated in honor of:
Air Force SrA Lawrence “PIT” Manlapit III, Age 26 of Mountain Home AIR Force Base Idaho.
Died Jun 16, 2018
SrA Lawrence Paul Manlapit III (known as Pit) was born at Winn Community Army Hospital in Fort Stewart Georgia on July 21, 1991. Pit grew up in Bridgeport, Connecticut and joined the Air Force a few years after his graduation from High School in March of 2014. Larry enjoyed being active and was a fun loving positive person. He had many interest that would include; skateboarding, football, basketball, snowboarding, dancing, poetry, bowling, camping, and soccer but, his all-time favorite pastime was eating. He was the second of four children and was the only boy. Larry boy as his family lovingly called him was dedicated to his family and friends, and would always be the first to lend a helping hand or offer moral support.
Pit was an Avionics System Journeyman assigned to the 391st Fighter Squadron at the 366th Fighter wing Mountain Home Air Force Base Idaho.
Airman Manlapit was given orders to support Operation Inherent Resolve with the 391st , and scheduled to deploy in October of 2018. Unfortunately, his untimely passing was on June 16, 2018, three months before fulfilling his mission. Airman Manlapit died with two other Airman on that day, SrA Carlos V. Johnson and SrA Karlie A. Westall. During Pit’s service he received awards/medals ranging from the: Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award, the Airforce Training Ribbon and Air Force Achievement Medal for his Meritorious Service in support of Operation Noble Eagle one.
Pit was an outgoing sociable individual therefore, he was quite approachable and comforting. His glimmering future of love and compassion for all was a gift and touched so many people who had the pleasure to be a part of his ever-expanding world. It is our hope that he is fondly remembered and his memory engraved into whispers of stories for years to come.
We had a great 11.03 Mile walk today. We started out and stopped up town at the War Memorial Park. We headed North on Main street and then we stopped by the 9/11 Memorial before going into the Obed River Park where we walked threw and back out to 127 headed north. Before heading home we walked in The Gardens. It was a great walk. I want to thank all who honked, waved, and saluted in helping us honor this hero. We had 267 honks today. It was amazing. Thank You !
SrA Lawrence “PIT” Manlapit III will not be forgotten !
