My walk today was in honor of:
Marine Sgt Robert A Hendriks, Age 25 of Locust Valley, NY.
KIA Apr. 8, 2019 Operation Freedom’s Sentinel
He was assigned to the 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve.
Marine Sgt Hendriks was killed in the blast near Bagram Airfield, the main center of US operations in the country.
He was a graduate of Locust valley High School June 2012 and left for Marine boot camp on Oct. 2012. He worked for the local 731 laborers union and was loved and respected by all who knew him from childhood friends to his brothers in service.
His brother Marine CPL Joseph Ty Hendriks escorted his brother on the long journey home.
His mother also says that Robby was tough, hard working, and never ever gave up. Yet, as tough as he was, his heart waas his greatest attribute, he was kind and compassionate and was always there for everyone.
We had a great 5.78 Mile walk. We walked to the Warm Memorial Park down town. I want to thank my friend Robert for walking with us today. Robert carried the Marine Flag. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted. It was amazing. We had 114 honks. Thank you.
Marine Sgt Robert A Hendriks will NOT be forgotten !
