Today our walk was dedicated in honor of:
Army SPC Kevin M Hardin, Age 25 of Copperas Cove, TX
Died Jan. 22, 2012
He retired due to severe injuries received in Samarra, Iraq on 9/30/2007. His military awards that he received during service were the Purple Heart, Combat Medic Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Operation Iraqi Freedom and the Army Achievement Medal. Kevin had a smile that would brighten up any room, and a personality to go with it. Kevin”s sense of humor would make anyone laugh. Kevin was always there to help his army buddies any way he could. Kevin felt such a bond to his army buddies that even though he was medically retired from the army, he wanted to make Ft. Hood his forever home to be there close to them. He had a passion for fast cars, especially his Mustang. He had a tender heart, sweet spirit, and love for his family, friends.
Today we had a great 8.33 Mile walk. We went by the Disabled American Veterans office as we were headed to the American Legion to the Veterans Pancake Breakfast. I am reminded daily how short life really is and when I get a chance to visit and spend time with my brothers and sisters I always do. I am honored and so blessed to have so many friends. We got to visit with several of our brothers and sisters as we ate breakfast. We then headed back and went by the Hospital as we were headed to the War Memorial Park down town. It was a great walk and I want to thank all who honked, waved, and saluted in helping us honor this hero. We had an amazing 232 honks this morning. Thank You !
Army SPC Kevin M Hardin will not be forgotten !
