Today my walk was dedicated in honor of:

Army SSGT Jonathan R. Reed, Age 25 of Opelousas, LA.
KIA Jan. 28, 2005 Operation Iraqi Freedom

SSGT Reed was assigned to the 1088th Engineer Battalion, 256th Brigade Combat Team, Louisiana Army National Guard, New Roads, La.

SSGT Reed was killed when an improvised explosive device struck a nearby vehicle in Baghdad.

He was a 1998 graduate of Port Barre High School, where he played on the football and baseball teams. He was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, riding motorcycles, participating in sports and was a proud LSU fan who enjoyed tailgating. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

We had a great 8.01 Mile walk this morning. It was spitting snow and the wind was blowing and I think the temp. was in the lower 20’s when we started but after we got going the sun came out and it warmed up to almost 30. We had a great walk. I want to thank my friend Robert for walking with us today and I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping us honor this hero today.

Army SSGT Jonathan R. Reed will not be forgotten !
