Our walk was dedicated in honor of:
Navy Veteran Kenneth Albert Hobbs, Age 90 of Crossville, TN
Died Mar. 28, 2020
He resided in Uplands Village in Pleasant Hill since 2016. He previously was an 18-year resident of Cumberland Cove in Monterey, following a 43-year long residency of Miami FL.
He was born Oct. 30, 1929, in Indianapolis, IN.
After graduating from Arsenal Technical School in 1947, Ken joined the Navy Reserve, and was called to active duty in 1951 where he served on the Battleship USS New Jersey in the Korean War. After serving in the Navy, he graduated from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL, with a degree of Bachelor of Business Administration majoring in accounting. He was employed by a commercial credit-reporting agency, and then worked 25 years for a major savings and loan company, eventually as a vice president.
Ken’s greatest legacy was his service and devotion to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and had been an active member of Central Baptist Church since 1998. He also enjoyed playing golf, reading, camping and reminiscing on the good ole days, especially his time in the Navy. He was a 20-year volunteer at the Cumberland County Playhouse, and served on the executive committee of the board of directors for the last 14 years.
It was a great honor to walk 11 miles with Navy Veteran Kenneth Albert Hobbs. We headed east on Sparta Hwy and went north on 127. We made our way over by WalMart and worked our way over to Interstate Drive. We took Cook Road and made a stop at the Crossville City Cemetery. We visited several of our Fallen Brothers and then took East First Street back into town. We made a stop in at the Veterans Memorial Park and read several names of our Fallen Brothers on the memorial Wall. We then continued North and then at the Bakery we turned and headed back towards the house. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted. We had 476 honks today. It was amazing. Thank you.
Navy Veteran Kenneth Albert Hobbs Will not be forgotten !
