Today our walk was dedicated in honor of:

Navy Veteran Jim Smith Cross, Age 83 of Ladoga, IN.
Died Oct. 6, 2010

My Uncle Jim was a WWII Veteran he served in 1945.
He was also the Town Marshall, firefighter, and
deacon at the Ladoga Christian Church and all the
town utilities.

I remember a lot of great times. I remember Jim flying his radio controlled airplanes and as a kid I was so amazed. He would have a little plastic guy with a parachute and drop it and us kids would go and try to catch it before it hit the ground. I remember him working in his shop a lot. Great times.

It was a great honor to walk 10.14 miles with my uncle Navy Veteran Jim S. Cross today. We started out just before the sun came up. It was a nice 58 degrees. We headed west to Tennessee Avenue and went into River Oaks. We walked down by the lake and watched the sun come up. It was so beautiful. We then started walking the River Run Golf Course. What a beautiful place. We counted 21 deer. We seen many Squirrels and a few wild turkeys. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping me honor this hero today. We had an amazing 86 honks not bad at all for only being on the highway for a mile both ways. I think my uncle was right their with me.

Navy Veteran Jim Smith Cross will not be forgotten !
