My walk this afternoon was dedicated in honor of:
Army SP4 James Strong Yoder, Age 18 of Knoxville, TN.
KIA Nov. 22, 1967 Vietnam
James is buried at Caledonia Cemetery in Knox County, TN.
He is remembered at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall on Panel 30E, Line 68
He served with the 4th Infantry Division, 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry, D Company
SP4 Yoder served as a rifleman in LT Downs’ platoon. His fearlessness and leadership provide for a gripping narrative as their unit patrolled deep in the forbidden jungle, engaging in nearly daily combat with an elusive and determined enemy. SP4 Yoder’s tragic last mission and death are recounted in the book, including the extraordinary efforts his fellow soldiers made to assure this brave man’s remains were not left behind.
We had a great 5.97 Mile walk. It was a little hot but we made it. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping me honor this hero. We had 147 Honks. Thank You
Army SP4 James Strong Yoder will not be forgotten !
