Today my walk was dedicated in honor of:
Army CPL Joseph W. Patton, Age 28, of Peavine, TN.
KIA Sep. 29, 1918
He was assigned to Company G, 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division
Joseph Walter Patton was born 27 September 1890, Peavine, Cumberland County, Tennessee to Julius and Susie A. Patton.
Cpl Patton was killed in action by a machine gun bullet 29 September 1918 at Bellicourt, Departement de l’Aisne, Picardie, France and was initially buried at Harricourt in France, Old Hickory Cemetery No. 1
He died at the age of 28. He is buried at Peavine Cemetery, Cumberland County, Tennessee.
My walk didn’t start off too good. I got less then two miles from the house and I had a fall and busted my knees up. But I got back up and I wasn’t going to have something like that stop me. We had an amazing 15.30 Mile walk today. We stopped at the war memorial park down town and read his name off of the honor roll on the memorial wall. Then we walked to his grave in the Peavine Cemetery in Fairfield Glade. I want to thank my friend Robert for walking with us and and I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and Saluted in helping me honor this great hero.
Army CPL Joseph W. Patton will not be forgotten !
