Our walk today was dedicated in honor of:
Army SSGT Allen R. McKenna Jr, Age 28 of Noble, OK.
KIA Feb. 21, 2012 Operation Enduring Freedom
SSGT McKenna was assigned to 1st Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, CO.
In 2004, Robby joined the U.S. Army and for the next seven ½ years he proudly served his country. For his first six years in the service, Robby was stationed in Alaska and worked as a Petroleum Specialist and only returned home to Oklahoma a year ago. At this present time Robby was serving his 3rd tour of duty overseas. His first tour was in Iraq, his 2nd and 3rd had been in Afghanistan where he presently served as a Squad Leader.
Robby loved working in the outdoors and doing outdoors sports. He had many hobbies while living in Alaska including, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, gardening and camping with his family. He also enjoyed singing and playing his guitar. But most of all, he loved being home with his wife and children.
We had a great 6.01 Mile walk today. We started out by walking by Lake Holiday and then we headed up town to the War Memorial Park. Before heading home we stopped by the Frost Cemetery and visited one of our Fallen Brothers. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping us honor this hero today. We had 186 honks today. Thank you.
Army SSGT Allen R. McKenna Jr will not be forgotten !
Salute!!
