Our walk today was dedicated in honor of:
Marine CPL David A. Bass, Age 20 of Nashville, TN.
KIA Apr. 2, 2006 Operation Iraqi Freedom
CPL Bass was assigned to elements of the 1st Marine Logistics Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, CA.
He was killed when the seven-ton truck he was riding in rolled over in a flash flood near Asad, Iraq.
was a graduate of John Overton Comprehensive High School in Nashville, Tenn., and joined the Marines in 2003 graduating boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island in November that year. He is remembered as the guy with a big heart, even though he only stood around 5 feet 3 inches tall. He was the guy who would bring a smile to your face and could turn anything into a joke. He also made sure no one was left out of the group. He was known for having a positive attitude, along with a quick-witted sense of humor. He was a true professional and was quick to help anyone regardless of rank.
We had a great 9.58 Mile walk today. We walked in the River Run Golf Course today. The weather was perfect. We got to see the wildlife. Was very nice and peaceful. I want to thank my friends Robert & Dale for walking with us today. I want to thank all who honked, waved, and saluted in helping us honor this hero today. It was amazing. We had 33 honks today.
Thank you
Marine CPL David A. Bass will not be forgotten !
