Today my walk was dedicated in honor of :
Marine Lance Cpl. Andrew P. Carpenter, Age 27 of Columbia, TN.
KIA Feb. 19, 2011 in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom
Andrew was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 8th Marines, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
Andrew Carpenter joined the Marines in 2007 and was serving his second deployment in Afghanistan.
He was shot in the neck and the bullet severed his spinal cord, his heart had stopped and it took officials several minutes to revive him. Medical officials declared hi brain dead. His parents were able to fly to Germany to spend time with their son before he was taken off life support. Carpenter’s wife gave birth to their son about three weeks after the Marine’s
funeral.
Had a great walk. I want to thank everyone for helping me honor this hero this morning. All the honks and waves were great. Andrew’s story really touched me, course they all do but his really hit me hard. We must NEVER forget them and the sacrifices that they gave. We shall never forget him.
