My walk this morning was dedicated in honor of:
Army 1st Lt. David T. Wright II, Age 26 of Moore, OK.
He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment, 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, WA.
David was killed in action September 14, 2009, during Operation Enduring Freedom in Kandahar, Afghanistan when his vehicle was attacked with an IED.
Wright enlisted in the U.S. Army Feb. 16, 2007. He attended Officer Candidate School and was commissioned as a second lieutenant on Aug. 2, 2007. Wright completed the Infantry Officer Basic Course at Fort Benning, Ga., and reported Fort Lewis, Wa., on Aug. 7, 2008, where he was assigned to the 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division. This was his first deployment.
Wright’s civilian and military education includes a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Oklahoma (2006), the Infantry Officer Basic Course (2008), Army Combatives Level I training (2008), Air Assault Qualification Course (2008), and Airborne Qualification Course (2008). The walk was amazing. I want to thank everyone for their honks, waves and helping me honor this hero. He will not be forgotten.
