My walk today was dedicated in honor of:
Army PFC Charles W Hyder, Age 27 of Crossville, TN.
KIA Oct. 4, 1943 during WWII Italy
He is buried in the Lantana Cemetery here in Cumberland County
He was assigned to 30th Infantry, 3rd Division, Company L
He received the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon, a Bronze Star, WWII Victory Medal, Honorable Service Label Button and the Purple Heart.
We had a great 8.51 Miles. We walked to the war memorial park down town and read his name on the memorial wall. We then walked to the Cumberland County Fair Complex for Heritage Day. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved and saluted in helping me honor this hero.
Army PFC Charles W. Hyder will not be forgotten !
