Our walk today was dedicated in honor of:
Air Force SSGT James Grotjan, Age 26 of Waterford, CT.
Died Jul. 12, 2018 Operation Inherent Resolve
SSGT Grotjan was assigned to the 4th Civil Engineer Squadron at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in North Carolina.
After Graduation from Bacon Academy in 2010 he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as a member of the 4th Civil Engineer Squadron at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro, NC after tours in South Korea and England. Tyler was an exceptional one of a kind young man who had an infectious smile, and witty sense of humor. The only thing that Ty loved more than his country and his dogs is his wife and family members. Known as the class clown he had few serious moments but he would go out of his way to do anything for anyone. He had a way of making you laugh and smile and forget your problems if just for a little while.
SSGT Grotjan died from a non-combat related incident at Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates.
We had a great 5.43 Mile walk today. We walked to the War Memorial Park down town and back. I want to thank my friend Robert for walking with us today. I want to thank all who honked, waved, and saluted in helping us honor this hero today. We had 158 honks. It was amazing. Thank You !
Air Force SSGT James Grotjan will not be forgotten !
