My walk today was dedicated in honor of:
Army Air Corps Sgt Cecil G Buttram, Age 22 of Crossville, TN.
KIA Jan. 11, 1943 WWII
Cecil enlisted January 7, 1941 and made rapid advancement. His last trip home was October, 1942.
He was reported missing in action in the North African Area as of Jan. 11, 1943.
His body was never found on the field of battle.
He and Ben West were very close friends, and graduated high school together in 1938.
I did a walk with Ben West on July 16, 2020.
Cecil is honored at the Memorial Wall down town Crossville, TN.
He also has a marker at the Crossville, City Cemetery.
We had an amazing walk today. We walked to the war memorial park down town and read his name on the WWII Honor Roll Memorial and then we walked to the City Cemetery to see his memorial headstone. We also visited his friends memorial stone (Ben West) as they were good friends in school. We also visited a few of our other brothers who have passed away.
I want to thank everyone who honked and waved in helping me honor this hero. It was amazing.
He will not be forgotten.
