Today my walk was dedicated in honor of:
Army Sgt. Faith R. Hinkley, Age 23 of Colorado Springs, CO.
KIA Aug. 7, 2010 Operation Iraqi Freedom
She was assigned to 502nd Military Intelligence Battalion, 201st Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
She died in Baghdad, of wounds sustained when insurgents attacked her unit in Iskandariya, Iraq.
She is buried in the Homelake Cemetery, Colorado.
Hinkley enlisted Aug. 27, 2007, and reported to Fort Jackson, S.C., for basic training and to Fort Huachuca, Ariz., for advanced training in her specialty, human intelligence collector.
She was a native of Monte Vista, in south-central Colorado, and attended school in Colorado Springs after graduating from high school in 2006.
We had a great 6.27 Mile walk today. We walked up town to the War Memorial Park and then we attended the Pro Troop Rally. We got to visit with several veterans. We had an amazing time. I want to thank everyone that honked, waved, and or saluted in helping me honor this hero. We had 164 honks today.
Army Sgt. Faith R. Hinkley will not be forgotten !
