Our walk today was dedicated in honor of:

Army National Guard Veteran SGT. Wesley Kubat, Age 40 of Grand Rapids, MN
Died Oct. 25, 2021

Our son was a combat veteran, who served in the Army National Guard in Minnesota. He joined the National Guard in August of 2000. Just a few months after graduating from high school. He was deployed 2005-2007 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He received an honorable discharge in 2010 due to medical conditions from his deployment. He was a proud American who loved serving our country.

In the years preceding his death, Wesley was known in his community as an enthusiastic member of the VFW, volunteering every chance he could. Outside of the VFW he enjoyed helping friends and neighbors (especially veterans) with whatever they needed.

In addition, he was a member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association in the twin cities. And was the commander of the chapter that he started in his northern Minnesota area. His CVMA name is Snipes.

We had a great 8.85 Mile walk today. We walked west on Sparta Hwy to Pleasant Hill, TN. We wasn’t expecting rain and sleet as it was not in the weather forecast but you just never know what your going to get up here on the mountain. Once we reached Pleasant Hill we stopped to visit the Memorials and then we met up with the Patriot Guard Riders who was going to escort a local veteran (WW2 Army Veteran SSGT Alfred P. Rogers) who is turning 100 on March the 5 to his birthday party at the Crossville Elks Lodge.

It started raining and sleeting harder so we had to take cover. After the walk we met up with SSGT Rogers at the Elks Lodge and we got to talk with him about what we were doing and who we were honoring today. We had a great visit. I want to thank my friend Robert for walking with us today and I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted and I want to thank WW2 Army Veteran SSGT Alfred P. Rogers for helping us honor this hero today. We had 218 honks today. Thank you

Army National Guard Veteran SGT. Wesley Kubat will not be forgotten !
