Army SPC Abigail Jenks, Age 21 of Gansevoort, NY.
Died Apr. 19th, 2021
SPC. Abigail Jenks was born in Pensacola, Florida November 18, 2000. She had 2 brothers and a sister. She grew up with a love for animals and soon became a country girl. Envision Abby with her cowgirl boots, country music, flannels and jeans. She was in a 4H program where she cared for chickens and rabbits (up to 70 of them) and would show them in the local fairs. Her strong passion was art. Abby started art lessons at the age of 8 where she drew a hummingbird for her first piece. She continued drawing her entire life of 20 years perfecting her hobby to draw over 120 pieces for us to remember her by – drawing anywhere from animals to babies and people, skulls, vehicles, flowers, etc…Abby combined her love of art with her career as her battery the” Warhammers “ as they asked Abby to design their logo. She was an aspiring tattoo artist the last year of her life.
Abby joined the Army after she graduated from high school. She had a family military history and decided to be no exception. Her grandfather served his country in the Air Force for 20 years, she had 2 great-grandfathers in the navy, her father was in the Marines, and her brother currently serves in the Air Force. In 2018, she was the first female to sign up for the combat role of Paratrooper in the capital region as the Army recently opened this combat role in 2017. While in the Army, she met a man named Sgt. Shane Grant who was also a paratrooper and they were engaged to be married the fall of 2021. Shane is currently in jumpmaster school and willing to teach and train the younger paratroopers how to jump out of the airplanes safely. Abigail jumped from the Blackhawk helicopter on April 19th, 2021 while on duty for a routine training accident at Ft. Bragg, NC as her last day on this planet Earth.

We had a great 3.05 Mile walk on Black Mountain here in Crossville, TN. Their were 5 of us from Tennessee Veterans Outdoors and Healing Hooves of Cumberland Plateau. We started out walking to the overlook . We could not see the views that we normally do because we were up in the clouds. It looked amazing even though we could not see the views. We could see the tree tops and we were up in the clouds. It was just amazing to be their with this hero and seeing what we could see.
We all will never forget this amazing walk among Gods artwork. Walking among the big boulders up on top of this mountain was just so amazing. I want to thank Dale, Jeremiah, Tommy, Sophie, Elijah for helping me honor this hero today.
Army SPC Abigail Jenks will not be forgotten !
.
Thank you so much for this, Abby use to come to our house to visit along with her brothers and sister. She will be forever missed!
