Today our walk was dedicated in honor of:

Marine SGT Deana Orellana, Age 28 of Sneads Ferry, NC.
Died Mar. 4, 2016

She served in the U.S. Marine Corps during Operation Enduring Freedom and was deployed once to Afghanistan with a female engagement team.

In her early years, she was happiest when playing soccer, for which she had a great passion. After serving her country, she continued her love of physical fitness and spent many hours training in her new favorite place, the gym, as well as helping others by becoming a personal trainer.
Ms. Orellana loved her Yorkie dogs, especially Charlie, who lived with her in North Carolina.

She is buried in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in PA.

Her birthday would be Sep. 18, 1987

We had an amazing 22 mile walk today. We started just a little after 4am this morning. We had forgotten how much we enjoy walking early in the mornings. We walked to main street and headed up to the War Memorial Park where we read a few names on the Memorial Wall. The Memorial Park is so different at night. We took a few photo’s and then we headed north. We got to watch the beautiful sun rise just as we got to the Interstate. We got lots of honks in that area and once the sun came up we started getting a lot more. We headed back South and took a quick break at Chick-fil-la and then headed on back to town. We made another stop at the War Memorial Park and read some more names. We then headed back south and made a quick stop for some water at Bojangles. A nice gentleman offered to buy me breakfast but I was just getting water so he gave me some money to buy lunch. Was so nice. I then continued back south and headed towards the house as It was almost lunch time and I needed to get home. A lady had stopped me on 127 and handed me some donut holes. They were so so good. I stopped in at Speedway for a min to finish them and got to talk with a couple about what I do. Really enjoyed talking with them. I then headed over towards Kroger’s parking lot and another couple stopped and we got to talk. Really enjoyed talking with them. We prayed and then said goodbye and I headed on home for lunch. I only had four more miles to go so after lunch I headed west on Sparta Hwy and walked past the Airport and then headed back home. Just as I walked in the door my phone told me I reached 22 miles. Guess I timed that just right. What an amazing day. This walk was to bring awareness to Veteran Suicide and I think we did that for several people. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping me honor this hero. We had 580 honks today. We did 59,000 steps. Thank you.

Marine SGT Deana Orellana will not be forgotten !
