Our walk today was dedicated in honor of:
Air Force SRA Antonio Melchor Jr, Age 26 of San Antonio, TX.
Died Jan. 3, 2012
Passed away while home vistiting family during a holiday break in San Antonio. SrA Melchor Jr. is a Iraq Veteran, and was assigned to 1st Combat Communications Squad, Ramstein, Germany.
He attended St. Philip’s College, where he obtained his basic mechanic’s certifications. He then joined the United States Air Force to serve his country. As an airman in the U.S.A.F. Tony worked as a communications engineer, putting together mobile communication centers. Tony loved to bring smiles to everyone with his special way of telling stories and sharing his memorable life.
Tony was a beloved son and brother; as well as a cherished friend to everyone. He touched the lives of everyone he knew.
We had a great 6.14 mile walk today. We started out walking by Lake Holiday. It was beautiful. As we headed up to the War Memorial Park down town we made a stop at Garrison Park where the Field of Honor will be on display in November. After we left the War Memorial Park down town we went by the big flag at the Bakery before heading home. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping us honor this hero today. We had 175 honks. It was amazing. Thank You.
Air Force SRA Antonio Melchor Jr will not be forgotten !
