My walk today was dedicated in honor of:

Army SP4 Jesse Boyd Hayes, Age 22 of Grandview, TN.
KIA Jan. 9, 1969 Vietnam

B Company, 1/35th Infantry, 3rd Brigade, 4th Inf Division.

SP4 Hayes was killed while under hostile conditions in Pleiku province, South Vietnam

SP4 Hayes is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall on Panel 35W, Line 60.

He is buried in Mount Zion Cemetery, Cumberland County, TN.

We had an amazing 5.96 Mile walk this morning. Our Fallen Heroes were really moving our flags this morning. You know the saying. Our Flag does not fly because of the wind.. They fly with the last breath of every fallen soldier who protected it and today I could really see and feel it. We walked up to the War Memorial Park and read SP4 Hayes name on the wall.

I want to thank my friend Robert for walking with us today. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping us honor this hero. We had 100 honks this morning. Thank You.

Army SP4 Jesse Boyd Hayes will not be forgotten !

  1. I would like to know what type of information you need to honor a loved one, veteran .? My husband Jerry Newberry is buried at Oakland Cemetary at Pomona. He is a Vietnam Veteran. He was a helicopter Crew Chief with the 61st Assault Helicopter Company. Stationed in Bon Son. What other info do you need ? I have a picture in his uniform.

  2. Hi Gloria,
He was a Army Veteran correct ? and if you have his rank that would be great. All the info you gave is great. If their is anything else you would like to add to his story then that would be great also. And yes, a photo in uniform is great. You can send all to my email address at tfrench1961m@gmail.com
