Today my walk was dedicated in honor of:
Army PFC Austin G. Staggs, Age 19 of Senoia, GA.
KIA Nov. 29, 2010 Operation Enduring Freedom
PFC Staggs was assigned to 1st Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.
PFC Staggs and five other soldiers in his unit were killed when a Taliban sleeper agent posing as a police trainee turned on the Americans during a training mission in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province.
Pfc. Staggs was born in Fort Worth and spent time growing up with his father in Georgia and his mother in Weatherford. He attended Weatherford High School and graduated from North Hills Private School in nearby Millsap, Texas, in 2008.
Pfc. Staggs, who was adamant about joining the Army, went to basic training in September 2009.
PFC Staggs is buried in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Fort Worth, TX.
We had a great 7.41 Mile walk this morning. We walked by Holiday Hills Lake and then to the War Memorial Park down town and then we stopped at the Crossville City Cemetery and visited a few of our fallen brothers. We then headed back . I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping me honor this hero. We had 118 honks. Thank you
Army PFC Austin G. Staggs will not be forgotten !
NOTE: I want to thank Badcock Home Furniture for flying our beautiful colors.
